The borescope is a tool that allows analysis of remote flaws. Light, fiber-optic line, and lens illuminate an area and carry the image back to a viewing lens. This is the principal of operation. The biggest advantage of borescopes is that they can check a product without requiring you to disassemble it. Olympus America Inc., Industrial Products Group is one of the leading companies in the field of optics and borescopes in particular. Olympus is recognized around the world as a manufacturer of high-quality optical products, but what is not so well known is that endoscopy products, for both medical and industrial applications, form a significant part of the company’s product range. The company was founded way back in 1919 and now employs people worldwide, with immense experience in the many and varied applications of RVI, as well as the development, manufacture and repair of the equipment involved. Olympus in the Americas serves medical, scientific, diagnostic and consumer markets with products and services that help customers efficiently and easily achieve exceptional results. ALS-UV2000U is a very interesting borescope light source manufactured by Olympus. It supplies high-intensity ultraviolet/white light for borescope remote visual inspection. This model is designed to supply either LIV illumination or white light at the flick of a switch to borescopes and fiberscopes. Series 5 Borescopes are the rigid line of Olympus borescopes. They are perfect for places where straight-line access is available, proving to be an extremely cost effective solution in such cases. The operator gets a clear view of the are, because this tool has a precision optical lens system that returns high definition images. An external light source is then used to transmit illumination to the subject area via a detachable light guide cable. Series 5 borescopes come in wide range of diameters, working lengths, direction of view and field of view (magnification). Olympus also produces Digital Measuring Borescopes. They are particularly useful for monitoring and recording of component wear in turbine inspections. The technology is called DMBS - Digital Measuring Borescope system, and is capable of providing accurate and repeatable measurements. The defect measurement is provided by a precision optical encoder wheel, which gives an output of the instrument’s exact focus position and object distance. No calibration is required and once the system is set up, it is capable of precise 2-dimensional point-to-point linear, point-to-line and depth measurements, all accurate to within ±2%. The big advantage here is that the DMBC system features s-video and composite video outputs so that you can view the area on a computer monitor, TV or an image storage device.
